Cheese scones for that extra special coffee or breakfast treat
When it comes to breakfast and tea, you want a snack that's easy to enjoy. These cheese scones are simple to make and very fluffy.
Baking is fun and there’s few things as great as a freshly baked scone with your tea, coffee or breakfast. Scones come from all over the world but are most variations are based on the British style. These cheese scones add that extra savoury element that everybody can enjoy and ours has another secret. These treats are great with a sweet or savoury topping and go great with breakfast.
Cheese scones toppings
If you want to, an aged cheddar works great as it packs a flavour punch, but the addition of cayenne pepper works well here too. For savoury toppings, try an extra slice of white cheddar and some cream and butter. When it comes to breakfast, enjoy with some cream cheese and smoked salmon. However, the most iconic sweet topping is some whipped cream and your favourite jam.

Cheese scones recipe

1 egg
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup flour
2 tbsp butter
⅔ cup grated cheese
salt
cayenne pepper
Method
- Rub butter into flour and baking powder.
- Add the cheese, salt and cayenne pepper. Add the whole egg.
- Beat all the ingredients together and add a bit of milk for texture.
- Back in 200°C for a few minutes until puffed and golden.
