eThekwini Municipality’s 10-hour power outage to affect 10 suburbs
The eThekwini Municipality will conduct maintenance resulting in an approximately 10-hour power outage. Here are the affected areas.

The eThekwini Municipality has confirmed a planned 10-hour power outage which will interrupt electricity supply on Wednesday, 21 May.
The outage is scheduled from 8:00 to approximately 18:00.
ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY TO IMPLEMENT 10-HOUR POWER OUTAGE
The metro municipality said the scheduled outage is necessary to allow eThekwini Electricity unit to perform medium voltage switchgear maintenance at the Eastbury Substation to improve the reliability of the substation.
To execute this work safely, it is necessary to interrupt electricity supply at the Eastbury Substation, the municipality said.
Parts of the following areas will be affected:
- Brookdale
- Caneside
- Eastbury
- Forest Haven
- Grove End
- Longcroft
- Stanmore
- Sunford
- Westham
- Whetstone
“We urge customers in these areas to plan for this outage. However, customers that are not switched off by 8.30 can assume that they will not be affected by this outage.
“During this outage, the public is advised to treat all electrical installations as live,” the eThekwini Municipality said.
