European Union backs Ukraine's defense push against Russia
After the NATO meeting, the 27 leaders of the European Union arrived in Brussels for a one-day summit with a strong geopolitical focus, covering the Israel-Iran conflict, the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and financial aid for the country. During the NATO meeting, leaders called for even greater efforts to help meet Ukraine’s pressing military needs and expressed support for the country’s request to receive more tanks. However, they made little progress on introducing new sanctions against Russia. Kathevane Gorjestani explains.
