A man allegedly hacked to death another man believed to be his friend with an axe for peeping through the window of his rented home.

A man who allegedly hacked to death a suspected intruder with an axe appeared before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court, in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, 13 September 2022.

The suspected intruder was reportedly hacked for peeing through the window of the suspect in the early hours of Sunday, 11 September 2022. 

MAN HACKED TO DEATH WITH AN AXE 

In reaction to the unexpected incident, it is said that the 30-year-old man allegedly grabbed an axe, hacking the victim in the head, according to police. 

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said It is further alleged that both the victim and the suspect were somehow known as friends. It is also alleged that the two were earlier sitting together before the incident.

Mohlala said after the said incident, the police as well as the Emergency Medical Service in Belfast were summoned to the said location where upon arrival, they found the victim lying on the ground with a wound on his head. The man was certified dead on the scene.

“Police are currently investigating the circumstances which might have led to the brutal act,” he said. 

Mpumalanga Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela condemned the brutal murder and urged community members to resolve matters in a civil manner rather than resorting to violence.
