Millions of students return to school in DRC’s conflict-affected east
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, millions of schoolchildren returned to class on the first day of the new school year. This return is especially significant in the eastern region, marking the first since territories in North and South Kivu were taken over. Despite doubts about whether schools would open, the students showed up. Report by Aurélie Bazzara-Kibangula, Fidèle Kitsa and Emmet Livingstone.
