Miss SA to Madlanga Commission mention: Who is Ze Nxumalo?

Ze Nxumalo, the husband of former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green, has been name-dropped repeatedly at the ongoing Madlanga Commission. 

The businessman has been accused of pressuring senior police to arrest celebrity blogger Musa Khawula, whom he sued for defamation.

FORMER MISS SA’S HUSBAND NAMED IN MADLANGA COMMISSION

On Monday, 16 March, the Madlanga Commission heard South African Police Service Sergeant Fannie Nkosi – of the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit – testify that he was pressured to effect the arrest of Musa Khawula.

WhatsApp texts revealed that Ze Nxumalo had communicated with the policeman to identify and locate the celebrity blogger. The policeman admitted to sharing sensitive information with Nxumalo.

The testimony raised concerns that confidential intelligence related to criminal investigations has been circulated outside official police channels.

At the time of his arrest last year, Khawula had tweeted about Nxumalo, whom he accused of cheating on his then-pregnant wife, former Miss SA Tamaryn Green. He had also landed in hot water over tweets about ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula’s wife.

Khawula was charged with crimen injuria, violating the Cybercrimes Act, and later contempt of court.

He remains in custody over multiple overlapping criminal cases.
