New design for National Stadium Karachi revealed
As Karachi’s National Stadium being renovated, a new design has emerged. The model suggests a two-phase stadium renovation. The first part will occur before the 2025 Champions Trophy and the second thereafter. The revised model suggests a new building in front of the main structure. The new infrastructure will reportedly have VIP boxes, a gallery, media boxes, and boxes for players’ families. The two dressing rooms can go to the new building.
The stadium will be roofed throughout. The roof will be installed in the second phase. The National Stadium scoreboard building and Iqbal Qasim and Naseem-ul-Ghani inclosures have been renovated. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved the upgradation of Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi stadiums, among others in severe need of repair. The cricket board has allotted Rs12.80 billion to refurbish the three huge venues. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and National Stadium in Karachi will host the ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9 next year.
