Orlando Pirates make crucial Zakhele Lepasa move!

As the season draws to a close, so do the contracts of several Orlando Pirates players, including striker Zakhele Lepasa.

The 28-year-old forward looks to be at the end of his five-year spell with the Soweto giants as the club prepares for an offseason exodus.

“So far, the four players [Innocent Maela, Phillip Ndlondlo, Karim Kimvuidi and Lepasa] are on the list and are expected to leave at the end of the season,” a source confirmed.

“What I can tell you for now, apparently, is that it’s believed these four players could be the ones to leave. The club is working with all the involved parties to look at the way forward so that they can reach an amicable solution where it is needed.”

Saleng back in action?

Meanwhile, Monnapule Saleng has been spotted in first-team training for the first time following a four-month standoff. The 27-year-old’s request to increase his R70,000 monthly earnings was denied, sparking the player’s hiatus.

“He will be back, and he is working hard in making sure that it happens. But it’s a complex situation that isn’t easy for anyone to understand, and we are waiting for the club to make a statement. The club could soon be issuing a statement, and until then, let’s wait,” a source revealed.

Orlando Pirates have a busy schedule before the end of the season as they find themselves in the business end of the Champions League and Nedbank Cup, as well as in contention for an elusive Betway Premiership title.
