Due to political activities in the federal capital, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket have postponed the last two 50-over matches of the Pakistan Shaheens-Sri Lanka ‘A’ series.
The final two matches occurred on Wednesday and Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Both boards will agree on series completion dates. The Shaheens lead the series after winning the two four-day matches 1-0 and the opening 50-over match on Monday by 108 runs.
The violence in Islamabad is caused by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demonstrators fighting police enforcement. The PTI founder’s wife and other top figures accompanied the demonstrators to the capital, demanding the release of their jailed leader.
The Interior Ministry invoked Article 245 today to allow the military to enforce order and punish miscreants. The army might also enforce curfew to reduce anarchy under the announcement.
