Partial results show Georgia's ruling pro-Russian party ahead in crucial vote

Polls closed in Georgia on Saturday evening in an election where voters were given a stark choice between two competing visions for the country: a pro-Western opposition alliance with aspirations for EU membership and the ruling Georgian Dream party that has steered Georgian politics towards a Russian social model. While both camps claimed victory in rival exit polls, the Georgian Dream party was set to win the election, according to partial results.
