Ashwell Prince’s wife, Melissa, tragically passed away on Sunday morning after a courageous fight against a lengthy and debilitating illness.

She was 41.

The couple married in 2006, the year Prince captained the Proteas Test side against Sri Lanka.

They have three sons, Joshua, Daniel and Zachary.

Prince, now 47, played 66 Tests, 52 ODIs and one T20I for South Africa.

His final Test appearance was the Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka in Durban in 2011.

The South African website conveys its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Melissa Prince.
