SEVEN Bafana stars to rejoin Orlando Pirates ahead of MTN8 final

Orlando Pirates are gearing up for their fourth consecutive MTN8 final this weekend as they take on Stellenbosch.

The Buccaneers won the competition three times in a row and are favourites to add another title to their collection on Saturday evening. With the FIFA break having ended on Tuesday, the PSL resumes with the anticipated MTN8 final at the Mbombela Stadium.

Saturday’s match will be a repeat of last season’s final, which the Sea Robbers won 3-1 in a controversial result.

Orlando Pirates eye another MTN8 title but Stellies are hungry

The Cape winelands side has lost to the Buccaneers this season already, but Saturday’s final gives them a chance to redeem themselves.

They play a side high in confidence with seven players returning from the Bafana Bafana camp. Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Thalente Mbatha, Oswin Appollis, Sipho Mbule, Sipho Chaine, Relebohile Mofokeng and Kamogelo Sebelebele were part of the Bafana team which played Lesotho and Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Orlando Pirates have won four MTN8 finals in the last five editions. In fact, the Buccaneers won six of their last eight finals in the past five years and are known as the new ‘Cup Kings’ of South African football. Stellies, on the other hand, last won a major trophy in 2023.

Can Pirates claim another trophy?
