Standard Bank grows its Smart ID network to 30 branches across SA

Standard Bank is continuing to expand access to Smart ID services, with 23 new branches now offering applications across South Africa.

The rollout marks a significant step in the Department of Home Affairs’ plan to bring key services closer to where people already bank – reducing long queues and making the process more convenient.

A growing network across provinces

The latest expansion includes branches in major cities, townships, and smaller towns, giving the bank a broader national footprint.

At these branches, customers can:

  • Apply for a Smart ID
  • Complete their application in-branch
  • Collect their ID once ready

Many of these locations now support walk-in applications, making access even easier.
