Storms cut off power to Tzaneen, confirms Eskom

Electricity supply has been cut off to several areas in Tzaneen, Limpopo, following severe storms and hail that caused damage to Eskom infrastructure.

Eskom confirmed that two of its substations were damaged during the storm, resulting in widespread power outages.

The affected areas include Nkowankowa, Lenyenye, Dan Village and Muhlava.

Damage being assessed

In a statement, Eskom said the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the estimated time for the restoration of electricity is currently unknown.

Residents have been urged to treat all electrical connections as live and to exercise extreme caution, as repair teams work to assess and repair the damaged infrastructure.

Eskom says further updates will be provided once assessments are completed and restoration timelines are confirmed.
