UN aid system in Gaza ‘crippled and undermined intentionally’ by Israel, expert says

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed while attempted to get aid in Gaza, according to the UN. After setting up a total aid blockade in Gaza for more than two months, Israel began allowing aid to re-enter the enclave late May through a new US- and Israel-backed organisation called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) that has effectively sidelined the territory's vast UN-led aid delivery network. “The UN coordinated system has been crippled and undermined intentionally by Israel and its allies such that they were able then to introduce this horrifically violent alternative”, said James Smith, lecturer in Humanitarian policy and practice at UCL London.
