Updated URC standings after ‘super Saturday’ for SA teams
It was a far better weekend in the URC for SA teams, and here is how the log shapes up as competition starts to hot up.
It was an action-packed Saturday in the URC, and once again it really was the Lions that demonstrated how they could be this season’s surprise package.
The Lions raced to an unprecedented 48-0 half-time lead against Edinburgh at Ellis Park, and although they failed to maintain that momentum, a 55-21 bonus-point win served as another big statement.
Meanwhile, the Bulls scored seven tries in a 47-21 bonus-point win over Ulster, while the Stormers got the job done as they claimed a 36-5 bonus-point victory against Zebre in Parma.
It was less convincing from the Sharks, but the coastal side will still be thrilled to have pulled off a last-gasp 33-30 triumph over the Dragons.
Although the competition is just getting started, it is a series of results that has changed the shape of the URC log.
