‘Very sad’: Trump speaks out after Andrew’s arrest
US President Donald Trump reacts to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, calling it ‘a shame’ and ‘bad’ for the royal family.
As police continue to search the former home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, US President Donald Trump has reacted to his arrest.
Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his title as prince, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office over allegations linked to the Epstein files. He has since been released from police custody.
TRUMP DESCRIBES ARREST AS ‘SAD’
Reacting to the arrest of the former prince, Trump described it as “very sad” and a “shame”. Speaking to CNN, he said the situation was “bad” for the royal family.
“It’s really interesting because nobody used to speak about Epstein when he was alive but now they speak. I’m the one that can talk about it because I’ve been totally exonerated. I did nothing, in fact, the opposite. He was against me; he was fighting me in the election, which I just found out through the last 3,000,000 pages of documents,” said Trump.
Trump also said that King Charles III is expected to visit the US. He is believed to be arriving in April for the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
KING CHARLES REACTS
King Charles also reacted to his brother’s arrest. In a statement, he said he had learnt of the news with the deepest concern.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” he said.
He added that the law must take its course. However, King Charles stated that he and his family would continue in their duty and service.
EPSTEIN TIES TO ANDREW MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR
The arrest follows the release of images showing Mountbatten-Windsor on all fours over a woman lying on the ground. The images were released by the US Department of Justice as part of the Epstein files. Mountbatten-Windsor and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein allegedly shared a friendship for years.
