Rebirth. That’s the main theme of the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to the trailer.

Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon reprise their roles in the latest instalment in the Spider-Man franchise.

As always, Spider-Man has to grow in a new and unfamiliar way, but this time his support system is nothing but a memory, for him that is.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man had to enlist the help of Dr. Strange to wipe MJ’s and Ned’s memories of Peter Parker to stop the multiverse from crumbling.

Spider-Man now has to reconcile the knowledge that it had to happen, while Peter Parker’s heart is breaking because he is not only alone but also has to watch from the sidelines as his loved ones exist around him, but live without him.

Having gone through major losses and life-altering changes, Spider-Man must come to terms with their meaning, which also manifests physically for him.

So he finds himself in the in-between, an unfamiliar and destabilising place.

But he still has to show up to fight crime, and because he is in the in-between, he is at his most vulnerable.

Mark Ruffalo makes an appearance as Dr. Bruce Banner, the man behind The Hulk, and the one Parker turns to to make sense of everything that is seemingly going wrong with him.
