WhatsApp is currently working on bringing its own in-app noise cancellation for voice and video calls. This has been spotted in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, so it's still actively being worked on. This feature automatically filters out background noise to make conversations clearer. So if you're surrounded by traffic or crowds, or if you're in a windy environment, this will hopefully help you be heard better by those you're talking to.
