Australia votes in general election overshadowed by Trump tariffs
Australians voted in Australia’s general election on Saturday as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his rival Peter Dutton ended campaigning along the east coast. If Albanese wins, he would be “the first prime minister in over 25 years to win a second term”, FRANCE 24’s Grégory Plesse said, adding that US President Donald Trump and his volatile tariff policies have overshadowed the vote.
