India’s Virat Kohli fell behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam as the men’s T20 Internationals’ second-highest run-scorer on Monday.
The former captain scored 41 runs in the third and final T20I of the three-match series against Australia at Bellerive Oval. After beating Pakistan in the last match, Australia won the T20I series 3-0.
Babar has 4,192 runs in the format, four more than Kohli’s 4,188, while Rohit Sharma leads with 4,231. The Pakistani star needs 40 more runs to become the all-time leading run-getter after Sharma and Kohli retired from T20I after India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 title win.
Only Babar and current white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan are Pakistani batsmen in the Top 10 with the most runs. Notably, the great batter, who renounced Pakistan’s white-ball captaincy before the visit of Australia, scored only 80 runs in the three-match ODI series.
Babar scored three in each of the first two T20Is before his record-breaking 41-run effort in the final match.
