Beloved Cape Town coastal campsite closes for maintenance

One of Cape Town’s favourite seaside camping spots will temporarily close sections of its grounds while maintenance work is carried out.

The City of Cape Town confirmed that parts of Soetwater Coastal Resort in Kommetjie will be affected from 10 March to 1 April 2026.

During this period, Oystercatcher Park campsite will be fully closed.

The nearby Anker campsite will operate on a limited schedule. It will close from Monday to Thursday each week, but remain open from Friday to Sunday for weekend bookings.

City officials said the temporary closures are needed while maintenance work is completed at the coastal resort.

Popular Kommetjie campsite affected

Soetwater Coastal Resort is a popular getaway for campers and caravanners visiting the Atlantic coastline.

Located along Lighthouse Road in Kommetjie, the resort offers beach access, braai areas, camping sites, a conference hall, and family-friendly facilities.

The site also includes ablution blocks, a children’s play area and parking facilities.
