Ekurhuleni residents: Changes to waste removal days for 2026

Residents across Ekurhuleni in Gauteng are being urged to take note of changes to household waste collection days for 2026 and 2027.

Ekurhuleni residents: Changes to waste removal days for 2026

Changes to waste removal days follows the implementation of a revised refuse removal schedule by the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

The updated waste collection calendar came into effect on 1 January 2026 and will see some Ekurhuleni suburbs moving to different collection days during the week.

City officials say the adjustments are aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring more reliable service delivery across the metro.

CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the revised schedule forms part of ongoing efforts to streamline waste management operations.

“The changes come in an effort to ensure effective and seamless service delivery,” he said.

Residents are advised to make sure their wheelie bins are placed at the kerbside on the correct collection days to avoid missed pick-ups.

New waste collection schedules

To help Ekurhuleni residents adjust, the CoE has published updated refuse removal calendars for all areas. They can be downloaded here.

Community members are encouraged to consult the online schedule to confirm how the changes affect their suburb. The calendar will remain valid until December 2027, providing residents with long-term clarity on waste collection days.

The Municipality has also reminded residents that support channels remain available if any problems arise.

Complaints related to uncollected waste can be logged through the CoE call centre on 0860 543 000, via email at call.centre@ekurhuleni.gov.za, or by using the My CoE mobile app.
