MSF accuses Ethiopian soldiers of 'targeted killing' of three staffers in Tigray in 2021
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has said that three of its staff were intentionally killed by Ethiopian soldiers in Tigray in 2021. The victims were not caught in the crossfire, but were shot at close range while clearly identifiable as aid workers. The victims were Spanish coordinator María Hernández Matas, Ethiopian health worker Yohannes Haleform Reda and driver Tedros Gebremariam. MSF halted operations in Tigray after the killings and now accuses the Ethiopian government of breaking its promise to investigate. According to eyewitnesses, a commander was heard over the radio giving the order to shoot.
