Men in Green started poorly, scoring no boundaries in the opening four overs. The Green Shirts were 20-1 in 4.2 overs when Saim Ayub left after six runs. Pakistan remained cautious as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan scored 63 runs.

Rizwan (53 off 53) helped Pakistan chase the mark in 17.3 overs after Azam fell for 33 runs. Pakistan bowlers dominated the day as Canadian hitters had no replies. Also, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf helped the Green Shirts close the game to 106-7 in New York.

Pakistan opened the scoring when Mohammad Amir dismissed Canadian opener Navneet Dhaliwal (4) in the third over. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who couldn’t secure his first over wicket, made progress when Pragat Singh (2) was caught and bowled in the fifth over.

Imad Wasim ran out Nicholas Singh for two runs in the 7th over after Haris Rauf gave 13 runs without a wicket. As Rauf pursued a hat-trick after sending Ravinderpal Singh to the dugout in the 10th over.  Plus, Pakistan looked dominant with five wickets in hand

Canada was 73/6 when young bowler Naseem Shah took his first wicket in the 14th over. Aaron Johnson dismissed Imad for his third six and scored a fifty to keep Canada in the game as wickets fell.

With only 10 runs, Canadian skipper Saad Bin Zafar was dismissed. After losing two of their first two matches, the national team must win today’s and tomorrow’s high-stakes group matches to stay in the competition.
