The first Twenty20 International (T20I) between England and Pakistan was postponed on Wednesday due to the rain at Leeds’s Headingley Cricket Ground, which soaked the ground.

The incessant downpour prevented the contest from commencing, preventing the bowling of any balls. Rain fell steadily throughout the day, starting in the morning and never letting up. Rain kept falling from the skies, postponing the match’s scheduled start time of 6:30 p.m. local time. All eyes will be on Edgbaston, where the second Twenty20 International will be contested, as the series stays tied at 0-0.

Before the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 starts on June 1, this series will be the final opportunity for both teams to play. While England will head to the West Indies for their round of 16 matches, Pakistan will spend all of their group stage matches in America.

Pakistan recently competed in a pair of Twenty20 International series, the first at home against a novice New Zealand team and the second away in Dublin against Ireland. Babar Azam’s first tests as white-ball skipper following his reappointment were these matches.

Due to the cancellation of one match because to rain, the Green Shirts and New Zealand tied in the Twenty20 International series 2-2 at home. Ireland was defeated by them with a score of 2-1. Though they prevailed in the subsequent series, the Men in Green still have a lot of issues to resolve before the World Cup starts.

But in January of this year, England lost a Twenty20 series to the West Indies by a score of 3-2.
