Springboks injury crisis: 10 players OUT! TWO return!
TEN Springboks are sidelined with serious injuries. Here is an update on all of the injured Springboks. Meanwhile, TWO big stars have returned.
The Springboks have an injury crisis of note with TEN players sidelined with serious injuries. Meanwhile, two players are set to return.
Rassie Erasmus confirmed another four injuries to key Springboks. Most noticeably, Springbok veteran Franco Mostert has a broken leg. Furthermore, EIGHT Rugby World Cup winners are out injured. Meanwhile, another two Boks set to return.. Here is the latest updated Springbok injury list.
SPRINGBOKS INJURY – UPDATED LIST
- Steven Kitshoff (knee + early arthritis)
- Malcolm Marx (fractured tibia)
- Franco Mostert (broken leg)
- Lood de Jager (shoulder)
- Deon Fourie (ACL)
- Pieter-Steph Du Toit (not specified)
- Jaden Hendrikse (Shoulder)
- Cheslin Kolbe (not specified)
- Edwin van der Merwe (not specified)
- Damien Willemse (finger)
Marx, Mostert, du Toit, van der Merwe and Kolbe have been added to the Springboks injury list. In fact, every player on this list (except for Hendrikse) is set to miss the start of the Rugby Championship.
Meanwhile, the likes of Kitshoff, Marx, Mostert, Fourie and Willemse face lengthy injuries.
BACKS BACK IN THE NICK OF TIME
Thankfully, there is some good news with two players set to return. Lukhanyo Am will run out for the Springboks against Portugal in Bloemfontein on Saturday in what is his first game since getting injured against Argentina in August last year,
Furthermore, Moodie will be available for the Rugby Championship opener against the Wallabies in Australia. Ironically, this is the game that the speedy and skillful Bulls back made his debut. Moreover, he scored a scintillating and memorable try, catching an up and under on the full before sprinting past the defense to dive in the corner.
