Three top candidates to take over at Kaizer Chiefs next season

Kaizer Chiefs will definitely part ways with co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze at the end of the season.

The two coaches took over from Nasreddine Nabi in October and have kept Amakhosi in the title race until early February.

The three coaches linked with the Soweto giants are Benni McCarthy, Rulani Mokwena and Pitso Mosimane.

Recently, McCarthy was asked whether he had been offered the Chiefs job, but the former Bafana Bafana star said nothing had been put to him, despite the rumours.

He did confirm that he will take the job if offered.

“I was a first team coach, I’m giving myself a little bit of time,” he replied.

“Maybe in five to 10 years, I want to be the head coach of Man United.

“And in South Africa, I’ve always been a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, I want to coach the two clubs that grew up supporting,” McCarthy added.

“So Man United and Kaizer Chiefs.”

Pitso Mosimane has been linked with Amakhosi in the past few years. When asked about the job, the experienced coach said he was open to any coaching job in the country.

“I’ve answered this question so many times. I can never say I can’t coach at home – why, why not?” he told Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000.

“I’ll coach any team in the country that shows me why you need to come here. What would you bring on the table?

“So that I can also ask, what have you been doing? Why are we were we are? Where can we accept our shortfalls and how do we address them? And how do we get better?

Pitso also open for the Chiefs job

“Not today, not tomorrow, it takes times. Brendon Rodgers was talking about a three-year plan and I was laughing. In the UK, yes.

“But we can have a plan, if you have a program. Look, we were at Sundowns for eight years, we were at SuperSport for six years, so we can create a plan,” Mosimane added.

Another candidate to take over at Chiefs is Rulani Mokwena.

The 39-year-old coach has not had it easy recently with MC Alger. His elimination from the CAF Champions League in the group stages has seen fans call for his head.

Who will challenge Amakhosi?
