ICC confirms ALL Proteas players have now left India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the departure of the final travelling members of the South Africa national cricket team and the West Indies team following the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

According to the governing body, the remaining groups from both teams left within the past 24 hours, bringing an end to a complex travel operation carried out under difficult global conditions.

A total of 29 remaining members of the South African contingent and the final 16 members of the West Indies squad have now departed on flights back to their respective countries.

The Proteas played their final T20 World Cup match on Wednesday, 4 March against New Zealand, losing that semi-final by nine wickets.

Travel disruptions complicated departures

The ICC said its operations and logistics teams worked continuously with governments, airlines, charter operators, airport authorities and member boards to coordinate the travel arrangements.

The process was complicated by ongoing disruptions to international air travel, which required frequent adjustments to flight plans as conditions evolved.

“Securing safe onward travel for all remaining players and staff was our sole aim and required constant adjustments as conditions changed,” the ICC said in a statement.

Teams thanked for cooperation

The cricket body also thanked Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies, along with their players and support staff, for their patience and cooperation throughout the process.

The ICC added that its staff had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that players, team personnel and their families were able to travel home safely following the tournament.
