Is it time for Chiefs to play central player Rushwin Dortley in a full-back role? That is, if he returns to full fitness in time for the start of the campaign? The 23-year-old has been sidelined for over a year after knee surgery, and his comeback doesn’t look imminent. A focus on youth in the front four would see Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi all fly the academy flag.

Meanwhile, the increasingly impressive Glody Lilepo looks the part up top. The 28-year-old, who was signed primarily as a right winger, has four goals and three assists in the league. It’s not the most prolific return, but with the support of a youthful attacking midfield trio, he’s a decent short-term option. Duba and Vilakazi scored against Magesi, Lilepo claimed an assist, and Lilepo was the only goal-scorer against Durban City. In a 4-1 beating of Magesi, Khanyisa Mayo got himself on the score sheet. So did Duba, Flavio Silva and Shabalala. Silva has seven goals in the league from just 16 appearances, a superb return.
